New York's Beneath the Earth Film Festival is a year-long search for independent films that serves as a catalyst for outstanding projects to reach a global audience. Four seasonal competitions are held throughout the year during which work of high production quality, clever writing and strong performances are offered the chance to be reviewed by authorities in the film world. The winners of each season then go on to compete for the culminating grand prize. All winners will receive recognition and exposure as well as a monetary prize.

The Movies that Matter Festival is a film and debate festival on human rights and social justice in The Hague, the International City of Peace and Justice. This film and debate festival is the successor of the Amnesty International Film Festival. It features the best of recent filmmaking related to human rights and human dignity and serves as a platform for debate and discussion. Beside the festival Movies that Matter organises various other human rights film events and activities including: - educational programmes at schools and film theatres - International and promotion of human rights film screenings - a human rights film programme within the annual International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). - Movies that Matter Tour: monthly human rights films programme in eight Dutch theatres.

The festival presents a hundred films of all genres, from the countries of the East and West, and highlighting a cinema of quality shaking the norms and initiating dynamics of transformation of mentalities. The program explores oriental societies in their diversity and questions the boundaries between the East and the West, through fictions, documentaries and short films that are unknown or little known in Switzerland. FIFOG also seeks to initiate debates on themes related to the East as well as the West, to offer a platform of expression for young directors in Switzerland and the Orient, and to foster dialogue and understanding Intercultural dialogue.
